Description[edit]

Paul Herlinger produced television documentaries and public-affairs programs for over 25 years. He has narrated dozens of PBS documentaries, commercials, and films, including The Sixties: The Years That Shaped a Generation (2005). Perhaps what he was most well known for was his work on Adventures in Odyssey as a voice actor, which he did for 12 years from 1996 to 2008. His major role on the show was playing the voice of John Avery Whittaker, which he inherited from Hal Smith after Hal died in 1994. Due to health concerns, Paul retired in 2008 and passed the role of Whit on to Andre Stojka, who began voicing Whit a year later in the fall of 2009. Shortly after retiring and giving the role to Andre, Paul passed away on February 2, 2010, at the age of 81.

Notes[edit]

  • Paul stated in the official podcast that Odyssey was the most gratifying thing he had ever done in his life.
  • Paul Herlinger's favorite episodes were some of the ones that gave a glimpse into Whit's heart, feelings, and past life--specificly #365: “Clara”, and #582: “Silent Night”
