Unreleased episodes are episodes which have aired on the radio, but are not readily available from Focus on the Family.
Most Odyssey episodes are available on a series album or in a special collection such as The Lost Episodes, The Truth Chronicles, or Passages: Darien’s Rise. However, some episodes were pulled after their initial airings for various reasons, such as quality standards or content. Thirty-two of those episodes were included in albums during the Gold Audio Series. In 2014, twelve more (all containing Officer David Harley) became available on the Adventures in Odyssey Club in The Officer Harley Collection.
In the Official Guide, the special section showcasing these episodes is called The Dusty Episodes.

Reasons for being unreleased
A CD with “Christmas Around the World” from Focus on the Family.
A radio aired cassette with “B-TV: Grace”.
Some of these episodes were available on individual CDs exclusively through the Focus on the Family store, which were all discontinued in 2011. These episodes are also the only ones that are not available to members of the Odyssey Adventure Club. Only one is able to be heard easily: #85: “You Go to School Where?”
- #FD4: “Tilly” - “Tilly” was a Focus on the Family “Pilot” radio drama, along with #FD1: “Spare Tire”, #FD2: “House Guest”, and #FD3: “Gone Fishing”. During the Gold Audio Series, “Spare Tire” and “House Guest” were packaged with Album #6: Mission: Accomplished, “Gone Fishing” was included in Album #10: Other Times, Other Places, but “Tilly,” an episode concerning abortion, never found its way into a “Gold” Volume.
- #85: “You Go to School Where?” - This episode dealt with the new issue of homeschooling. Though it was handled tastefully, many listeners felt it did not correctly reflect what homeschooling was all about. This episode was available on CD from Focus until 2011, and was released on Official Podcast 57 (Download).
- #370: “Christmas Around the World, Part 1” & #371: “Christmas Around the World, Part 2” - These episodes were originally released in 1994 on an individual cassette and CD called Joy to the World. They were then edited for broadcast during the 1996 Season. Being a Christmas special, these episodes do not have a cohesive storyline. The episodes were available on CD from Focus on the Family until 2011.
- #438b: “The Telltale Cat” - This episode was considered too violent by the Odyssey team and was pulled from the Spring 2000 lineup after the original broadcasting.
- #439: “B-TV: Grace” - This episode was part of the 2000 Season and was pulled because some listeners complained that this episode was derogatory toward Amish Christians. This episode was available on CD through Focus on the Family until 2011.
- #442b: “Sticks and Stones” - This episode was part of the Spring 2000 season and was pulled for “providing children with too many ‘fat’-insults.”
- #444a: “Career Moves” - This episode was part of the Spring 2000 season and was pulled because it was considered too weak. This episode was available on CD through Focus on the Family until 2011.
Under Paul McCusker as the new executive producer at the time, most pulled episodes were in the Spring 2000 season.
Episodes with limited circulation
- The Officer Harley Collection - Because this album is only available on the Adventures in Odyssey Club, only AIOC members (paying a subscription) can hear its episodes.
- “B-TV: Live!” - This episode was a live episode that ended up being way too long to use as a broadcast episode or included in a regular album. It was released on a separate, individual CD Adventures in Odyssey: Live!, but that CD was pulled from distribution in 2016, and is now only available to Club members.
- “Welcome to Whit’s End” - This is an 11-minute episode intended to serve as an introduction to the series for new listeners. It was never broadcast and has only been released in the sampler album Welcome to Whit’s End and on Official Podcast 89 (Download).
- “Push the Red Button (Live)” - This is the live version of #726: “Push the Red Button”. The episode is only available in the special compilation album Our Favorites: Actor's Picks and as a video "freebie" on CBD.com.
Unreleased shorts
Six of the shorts produced for Odyssey were not included with Album #13: It All Started When..., while the rest were. Three still air on the radio.

Unreleased scenes

- #215: “Caroling, Caroling” - This episode was originally released and aired as a double episode, featuring many more songs and several more scenes than the current version. The original was released as Caroling, Caroling (music album) and is currently unreleased.
- Family Portraits - In this album's re-release in 2012, the wraparounds and various scenes were cut from the episodes. This is proven from the original Family Portraits album, full releases of #FP01: “Whit's Visitor” and #FP08: “The Letter”, and the remade episodes included in The Lost Episodes (an expanded Whit’s End scene in #16: “No Stupid Questions”).
- Several of Officer David Harley’s episodes were re-written because his scenes were too abundant to remove, but other times, the scenes were merely cut from the episode and thus unreleased. Those scenes are:
- #7: “Promises, Promises” - The original episode was edited after its first broadcast to remove references to the New Year's holiday and Odyssey USA and two scenes that contained Harley were removed. Scenes with Lisa and Phil were expanded to make up for lost time. The original version of the episode was released in the Odyssey USA album and the Adventures in Odyssey album.
- #12: “The Tangled Web” - The original episode included a scene with Harley. The scene was completely re-recorded with Harry Snoopnagle for it's second broadcast in 1991. The original version of the episode was released in the Odyssey USA album and the Adventures in Odyssey album and the script was included in Radio Scripts, Volume 2.
- #29: “Rumor Has It” - The Official Guide states that this episode contained Harley (as the police officer at the end of the episode) when it first aired. However, several fans have speculated if that fact is not actually the case, considering that Harley “left town” in #26: “Harley Takes the Case, Part 2”.
“Lost” episodes
These episodes were all written or produced to some point but never aired on the radio or were released in an album.
- “Backwoods Jacobs” - An episode with the Jacobs family that was recorded, but never went to post-production.
- “One-in-Ten” - An episode that was written by Phil Lollar in the 1990s’ on the topic of homosexuality, but was never completed. It was later replaced by The Ties That Bind.
- “Betrayed” - An episode written by Marshal Younger for Album #25: Darkness Before Dawn about the Israelites and the Bones of Rath, however it was cut because there was no more room left in the album.
- “The Dangerous Haircut” (split) - This episode was fully produced for the 2000 Season. It was later incorporated into #568: “The Power of One”.
- “The Hoax's on You” (split) - This episode was fully produced for the 2000 Season, but has never been released or aired.
- “Fads” (split) - An early idea that didn't make it to the script stage. Dropped from the 2000 Season.
- “Turning Paige” - Dropped from the 2000 Season.
- “B-TV: Bible” - This episode that was in the works in the early 2000s, but never saw fruition. It was mentioned by Bernard in #460: “Nova Rising”.
- “The End of an Era” - An episode written for the 2007 Season to be used if Will Ryan could not voice Eugene anymore. Because he stayed the episode was not needed. Parts of the script were incorporated into The Best Is Yet to Come, Part 4 and some of the recorded scenes were incorporated as well. .
- An untitled Kidsboro episode dealing with the freedom of speech. It was originally planned for the 2010 Season. Later, another Kidsboro episode was planned for Album 57 in which they formed their own church. Ultimately, the idea wasn't used and the episode became #715: “The Perfect Church, Part 1”, and #716: “The Perfect Church, Part 2”.
- “A Jay in the Life” - Although the winning entry in the College Writer's Scholarship contest, the Odyssey team decided not to produce this episode because it conflicted with some of the storylines they were developing.
- “Sideways” - Before the main story of The Ties That Bind, Paul McCusker wrote a twelve-part series under this title. The story more closely followed the importance of family. The Odyssey team decided that another storyline would be better, and eventually Olivia Parker took a Room of Consequence trip on this topic between part 6 and part 7. Paul was going to write a book trilogy on this theme, but it never took fruit. (Information from Official Podcast 214)
