The End of an Era
The End of an Era is a partially produced episode that never aired.
History
In the spring of 2007, Focus on the Family was unsure if they would be able to continue using Will Ryan who plays Eugene Meltsner. For this reason they wrote an episode where Leonard Meltsner, Eugene and Katrina all left for Africa. However while the episode was still in production circumstances changed and Will Ryan was able to stay on and continue voicing the character of Eugene. As a result, the episode was halted in production. The episode was supposed to air after #621: “A New Era, Part 3”.
A scene of this episode was released on Official Podcast 47
The two completed scenes were later incorporated into The Best Is Yet to Come, Part 4, including Bernard's speech.

Tom: But through the years, you've changed we see, and like a stubborn wart, you've grown on me. Eugene: I'll take that as a compliment. Connie: When you first came around you said farewell and adieu; now you still say farewell, but you say goodbye too. Whit Your ranting went on, and on, and on. Now your rant ends, after everyone's gone. Connie: Not a soul would listen whether lonely, dying or buried, but I guess you found someone, because somehow, you're married. Whit:But we found you were more than annoying and smart; you're a good man, with a really good heart. Tom: I suppose I will miss you, our recovering geek. It's a bit sad to know that I won't see you next week. Connie: We'll miss the gadgets, the gizmo's, you trying our patience, and even your... All: Greetings and salutations! Bernard Though I've laughed at you, scolded you, and said things I regret, you are a good friend that I will not forget. |
