Season pages
There seems to be a caching problem on 1987 Season and 1988 Season. I'm seeing the same list of episodes on each section on both of the pages. Several days ago I tried to purge the cache on 1987 page by giving each a list a new GUID, but that didn't seem to fix the problem. Thanks! Erwin Springer [talk] 12:06, 5 August 2014 (MDT)
- Never-mind, I think I fixed the problem. Erwin Springer [talk] 08:57, 6 August 2014 (MDT)
Welcome Message
Is the new user message editable (perhaps in a MediaWiki: page) or is it sever side? I'd like to see if we could expand it a bit. Thanks! Erwin Springer [talk] 17:38, 14 August 2014 (MDT)
- do you mean Template:Welcome? or something else? sorry for the late reply, was away on vacation Reddo (talk) 17:16, 17 August 2014 (MDT)
- This message:
Welcome to Adventures in Odyssey Wiki! We hope you will contribute much and well. You will probably want to read the help pages.

Can we get some touch-ups and links into the 'Life' section of the above named page? I just wrote it. -Scientific Guy (talk) 15:07, 28 September 2014 (MDT)
Katriona Kennedy
I posted the following on the town hall, but have not gotten a reply:
“ | Shona's mom plays the nurse in Life Expectancy, Part 1, but it says her mom's name is Katriona Kennedy. This is Shona's sister's name. On the podcast released today, they say Shona's mom's name is Karen. On The Saguaro Sisters website, it says her name is Karona. Maybe Karona is a stage name? Her name must be one of these, but it's not Katriona. | ” |
Then today I saw that someone changed the Description on Katriona Kennedy's page from saying that she is Shona's mom to saying she is her sister. Which is right, but this makes it look like shona's sister played the nurse, when it was actually her mom. AIOrocks101 (talk) 11:24, 18 October 2014 (MDT)
Secret Actor...
Why did you delete this page? I think we should keep it, because I know who it is. If it's alright with you, we can keep it and use it as an "April Fools" joke of sorts. The reason that I don't tell who he is is because Nathan Hoobler swore me to secrecy. -Scientific Guy (talk) 14:00, 6 November 2014 (MST) (Drat! I always forget to sign my name!)
- It's not notable, The purpose of any wiki is to be a compilation of information. This page doesn't contribute anything to the wiki and therefore doesn't really belong here. I hope you can respect that. Sorry it took so long to reply, I was away on vacation. Reddo (talk) 21:11, 6 November 2014 (MST)
- Ah, no problem; I fully understand! Maybe I'll put it on another website somewhere... Thanks for telling me about the 'contribution rule'! I'll keep it in mind. @Scientific Guy (talk) 17:10, 17 November 2014 (MST)
Languages Behind AIOWiki
I know I haven't been around much but that is mainly due to the fact I took a full load of classes. Now that I am 3/4ths through my first Computer Science class, I had a few questions in regards to the AIOWiki. First, as a background at my university python is the first language used to teach us the methods of Computer Science. My last program was using Object Oriented Programming to allow an input of width and height for a rectangle, then find the area and perimeter. So, my first question is that with access to the server is that ran on a specific language? Such as (and my best guess) PHP? Now what I have always wondered is what do are we using as a community when we create templates? Is that even a specific language or something made up for Wikipedia/wikimedia?
All in all, I am liking Computer Science. I had a rough patch a week ago in which I got the assignment and just stared at a blank screen for like several hours. It's hard no doubt about that but I am glad I am in it. All thanks to a this wiki and one my fifth grade teacher started. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 17:18, 4 November 2014 (MST)
- Mediawiki is written in a few languages, but it's almost entirely in PHP. The rest is a variety of database languages, then the usual js, css html ect. there could be a few more but I haven't gone through the source enough to know what they might be. Templates are made using a custom markup that was made by wikimedia for mediawiki. There's been a lot of times I've stared at my screen for hours not knowing what to do, but in the end after you've wrapped your head around it the code usually isn't that bad, but there is the odd time it's a nightmare. Glad the wiki could be such a positive influence in your life, it's also what got my thinking about CS Reddo (talk) 21:01, 6 November 2014 (MST)
- So um two years later...I switched majors to Computer and Information Technology. I am loving it and learning a lot. Less coding and more about using computes (i.e. networking and security classes). I am currently interning with a Fortune 100 company and it's going great. The wiki will always be something that got me starting in technology, CS wasn't exactly for me but I am starting to find my niche. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 19:20, 6 August 2016 (MDT)
- Hey, good to see you again, it's been a while, CS takes a special kind of person. I always wanted to take more security stuff in university but they conflicted with other classes that were required for my degree. I took a little bit of networking stuff in my Operating Systems class, we had to write our own code to get two computers to talk to eachother on the command line, and we couldn't cheat and use ssh or something, had to be all our own code. I spent a lot of hours on it and I could not figure it out. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that and can just rely on existing network protocols to talk to databases Reddo (talk) 20:13, 6 August 2016 (MDT)
Ms. Adelaide and Matthew Parker
Hi Reddo. There is a slight problem on this page (http://www.aiowiki.com/wiki/Barbara_Niles). The 'Characters Played' part says that she has played "Miss Adelaide" and "Ms. Adelaide." Just wondering if you could fix that. Also, since Zach Callison no longer plays the part of Matthew Parker, the actors should be changed from Zach Callison (2010 to present) to Gunnar Sizemore (2014 to present) (http://www.aiowiki.com/wiki/Matthew_Parker). Thanks, and may God bless you. JasonWhittaker (talk) 13:17, 25 November 2014 (MST)
- I'll look into the Adelaide thing, the matthew thing will sort its self out soon, Zach still played matthew this year so it's not really incorrect Reddo (talk) 10:24, 28 November 2014 (MST)

Small Album art
I had emailed you a while ago, and you gave me the ok to upload small versions of the album covers. there are small versions of albums 1 - 58 on the wiki. They are of better quality then what the wiki produces, look at the file size and quality of any of the album number-front-small.jpg images vs the wiki generated ones. Aiow 16:44, 11 December 2014 (MST)
- Sorry completely forgot about this and your earlier email, December is such a hectic month, yes feel free to upload those images as we talked about earlier, Merry Christmas Reddo (talk) 20:56, 26 December 2014 (MST)
asking Reddo some questions
Hello Reddo, I am new to the AIOWiki as of Dec 8th. I have been reading through the pages for each episode, as I listen to them on the Odyssey Adventure Club. I posted a question on the Town Hall page regarding correcting the many spelling and grammar errors that I've seen on this site. I am not trying to upset anyone. I am cursed with the ability to notice these things very quickly, so I am offering my meager skills to the site. If you would rather I didn't make any changes I will leave it alone. I joined this site but I know very, very little about working in computer languages, or formatting for websites. Initially, I just wanted to be able to add my votes to the episodes pages. However, I am willing to learn. Please know I am not trying to be persnickety, I just assume that you all want these pages to be as error free as possible. I do not want to get into any conflict with anyone involved here. I try to avoid drama in my life, if at all possible. Also, I assume that some items listed here are provided directly from Focus on the Family and are written by them. I don't want to mess with those things, so could you tell me what to leave alone? I don't want to bore you with repeating what I wrote on the town hall, so I won't. I received a response but didn't understand it all. I'm amazed that I figured out how to 'talk' on that page, or this one!
To give you a little background on me... I'm 45 y.o., and disabled. I spend most of my time in my hospital bed with my computer at ready access. This gives me the time and the willingness to fix the errors that I see. Most of my time is spent in prayer, Bible study and reading. I joined the OAC 3 months ago and have listened to all the episodes twice now. I started listening to AIO when my oldest child was about 9 or 10. She is now 27 and has made me a grandmother of 3! Time flies!
By the way, Do you know of some free resources available where I can learn some of the things I would need to learn to be a useful member of this team? Is there some other way I could be of help to this endeavor?
I'm sorry for the long post. Is there a better way to contact you in the future? I believe you have my email address...feel free to contact me that way if you'd prefer. Thank you for helping me out! Any advice or instruction you can give me is greatly appreciated! I pray this is the beginning of a fun and rewarding experience for all. Donna Perez (talk) 16:44, 21 December 2014 (MST)
- Hi sorry it took so long to reply, I was away on holidays, I saw your message over in the Town Hall page and it seems like you've got the hang of it now, those types of errors really bug me too, unfortunately I don't have as much time to work on the wiki as I'd like.
- I'm sorry to hear about your health, when I was younger I spent most of one year in a hospital bed and that's how I came to know about AIO and I've been a fan ever since, Merry Christmas, Reddo (talk) 21:00, 26 December 2014 (MST)
Marissa and Marissa Allebach Error
Hi Reddo. The pages "Marissa" and "Marissa Allebach" are actually about the same person. Can you help combine them? Thanks. JasonWhittaker (talk) 16:49, 31 December 2014 (MST)
Module:Currently Airing
I highly doubt the module would affect performance too drastically, as it is only being called on one page and lua is rather good about only calling what it needs (hence why the page did not overload the expensive parser function calls, instead only calling the expensive functions as required, about 12 times at most).
Although, to actually test performance without it you would need to clear the calls to the module, rather than the module itself, otherwise it is just generating 200 script errors.

- For some reason I thought it was in the sidebar so it was on every page load, I know you had been working on it in December before the wiki got slow so I thought maybe it was connected but it appears it's not related Reddo (talk) 19:44, 31 January 2015 (MST)
What should I do?
I really have no idea what I'm supposed to do now that I'm on here. Do I just wait to see if their something to change, or do you advise that I find someone else to do on here. I don't really know how to do anything on here. The main reason I became an editor is because I saw a quote that was mistyped. Thanks Tigrispo (talk)

I noticed you created a new user called Aiorocks a couple days ago. This username is very similar to my username, which I have been using since February 2012. I would like to request that you change this persons username to something that doesn't resemble mine. Thanks. AIOrocks101 (talk) 19:40, 26 June 2015 (MDT)

Mr. Redacop
The page for the janitor from Repent After Me is called Mr. Redacop. Shouldn't it be Redekop? Unless they were referencing your name only by pronuncation but using a different spelling. Gooey98 ~ (talk) 22:32, 20 July 2015 (MDT)

Free Episode Links
Why did you remove all those free episode links? AIOrocks101 (talk) 20:27, 24 November 2015 (MST)

Christmas News Item
I was trying to create a Christmas news item, and now there are two on the main page. I did make two, because the first one wasn't showing up. I replaced the text in the second one with "delete". The two on the main page are the same one, so I don't know what to do. Can you fix it? Thanks, and Merry Christmas. AIOrocks101 (talk) 14:17, 25 December 2015 (MST)
Album 61
Hi. The Key Suspect is in Album 61. See here. Another way you can know that this episode is not in OAC Season 3 is that it was recorded on Febuary 2nd this year. The AIO team records all the episodes for an OAC Season the year before they are released. Don't judge an episode by it's title. AIOrocks101 (talk) 08:02, 2 March 2016 (MST)
Updated Infobox Episode Template
Yello, Reddo. You might have seen that I made some implementations on the Infobox Episode Information's discussion page and was thinking (since on your page you say that you'd want to work with the template more) that you and AIOrocks101 could take a look at it. In the meantime I'll give a crack at figuring out the code for myself. Thanks. Scientific Guy (talk) (The OT Theory) 13:55, 30 April 2016 (MDT)
Infobox (Again)
Welcome back to the Wiki, Reddo! You've probably seen my work on the Infobox Episode Information template regarding Intros/Wraps. However, Whit's Flop is an episode with multiple intros. I was thinking that more than one intro could be made into a drop-down menu, like the albums (If there's one, like here then no drop-down) but I can't seem to work with the code right. If you could do it for me I would appreciate that. Thanks: Scientific Guy (talk) (The OT Theory) 18:46, 15 May 2016 (MDT)
- the collapsible thing should be done, let me know if it isn't working properly Reddo (talk) 12:04, 4 June 2016 (MDT)
- It's okay, but on episodes where the intros/wraps have not been entered, there's a glaring bug. Maybe you could check that out. Thanks for updating it, though! Nice job! Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 17:02, 4 June 2016 (MDT)

We seem to have a problem...
Schedule for 1987: Look at line 4 in the chart. No Stupid Questions (FP): Look at the airdate. Yes, I don't know how, but "No Stupid Questions (FP)" somehow became "Stupid Questions." Character Intersection

Some Questions
Hi Reddo. I know you uploaded the full pictures for the OAC episodes. I think it's good to have these, but I'm wondering why you upload entirely new files with the episode number, rather than just uploading a new version of the files that already exist that go by the episode name. Why do the the pictures have to be titled by the episode number? I also noticed that some of them are a different shape then the normal shape (Normal: Hidden Gems Different: Follow Me, The Cure, Part 1, The Cure, Part 2, The Cure, Part 3, Pinocchio: The Tale of a Foolish Puppet, Part 2, A Daughter's Love, and others.). I think it would be good to have the pictures the same size and shape on each page. I also noticed that the new versions appear blurry on the episode pages, while the old ones were clear.
On another subject, so now we have to remove "cat = not yet" from episode pages to get them to show up on their album page? We didn't used to have to do that. And this makes them show up on Episodes sorted chronologically also. Don't we want to keep episodes that have not yet been released off that page? That's how we used to do it. AIOrocks101 (talk) 11:21, 2 July 2016 (MDT)
- Are you "in cahoots" with Nathan Hoobler? Does he give you the images? Also, AIOrocks, the "Art" images are often a different shape than the "Episode name" pics. That's why he uploads a new one instead of updating the old one. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 13:57, 2 July 2016 (MDT)
- Yeah, Nathan Hoobler gives Reddo the images. He gives him lots of stuff, like the episode schedule, and cast lists. Ok, thanks for answering that, Scientific Guy. AIOrocks101 (talk) 14:11, 2 July 2016 (MDT)
- By the way: These two images need updating. And can you install RandomInCategory? Also, the search bar at the top is case sensitive, can you stop that?
AND, "Suppresserrors" is not w...Fixed it. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 19:03, 2 July 2016 (MDT)
- By the way: These two images need updating. And can you install RandomInCategory? Also, the search bar at the top is case sensitive, can you stop that?
- Yeah, Nathan Hoobler gives Reddo the images. He gives him lots of stuff, like the episode schedule, and cast lists. Ok, thanks for answering that, Scientific Guy. AIOrocks101 (talk) 14:11, 2 July 2016 (MDT)
- I'm not sure why the | cat = not yet was even put in, I've removed it and added a spoiler warning to the chronological page, we could also set it up so that unaired episodes just don't appear in the list using |notcategory =
- art being different shapes, I make these images from the raw PSD that Gary Locke draws, I make it as big as possible to include as much of his work as I can, we could make smaller images that are a bit clearer and have those displayed on pages and then when clicked on they lead the user to the full size image. As for the names I follow the same naming pattern/format that was used from the start, and the albums, a number not a name (clever reference) and format is jpg
- not sure if cahoots is the right word but we talk every few months. He gives me art and info and in return I do some database things for them. I made the official past schedule document they use, I did a lot of the info for the database behind the OAC. We both help eachother out. They also use the wiki almost every day as it's a huge source of easily searchable information for them.
- random category, I'll add that to my todo list, what's it for?
- search bar, I think this was changed in mediawiki 1.27 which was released earlier this week. With my schedule the way it I plan on installing it on or around the 17th of July, I want to make sure I have regular access to a computer after it's done to fix everything.
- suppress errors - I fixed it, when I originally wrote most of the code that uses the DPL extension it was version 2 written for mediawiki 1.09 or something like that. Now we're on mediawiki 1.26 (soon 1.27) running dpl 3 by a different author that has huge performance boosts and as a result a few things have broke, they just take time to find and fix
- the two images, I'll see but I'm not that great with photo shop
- I think that was all the questions let me know if I missed anything Reddo (talk) 19:05, 2 July 2016 (MDT)
- Thanks a lot, yeah, that was everything. I fixed the Quotes myself. Somehow, I messed up Unreleased episodes and the episode list is different. I should be like Album 30: Through Thick and Thin. For RandomInCategory, it's so I can make a better random episode generator (well, better than this one which displays the same episode on every reload). The Random Quote Generator has the same problem, think you can fix those three pages? Thanks for your work, we both appreciate it. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 19:19, 2 July 2016 (MDT)
- I guess that's another thing that's broken... probably from when I was trying to optimize the wiki when the spammers were trying to attack us hard and I decided to just cache everything, I'll install it in the next few days Reddo (talk) 19:27, 2 July 2016 (MDT)
- And the Unreleased episodes page? That was working earlier today Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 19:30, 2 July 2016 (MDT)
- Partially Done: I made the Random links clear the cache upon reload (makes more sense if you see it), but the page opens in a new tab. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:29, 3 July 2016 (MDT)
- Thanks for answering my questions, Reddo. How do we use "|notcategory ="? I knew we only use the number for album images, but I didn't know we were supposed to do the same for episode images. If this is the case, then there are a lot of episode images on this site that go by the episode name. Is this rule written on any special pages? I looked, and couldn't find anything. Why jpg? PNG is better quality. When you save an image as jpg, data is lost and the quality goes down. PNG is a lossless file format. JPG is a lossy file format. This is why the smaller versions of the full size images are blurry. If the full size images were PNG, smaller versions of them wouldn't be blurry. I wasn't talking about the pictures in the gallery, but the pictures where the album cover usually goes, at the top of the page. That picture links to the album page. I think we should have the files that go by the episode name as the "Album Cover", so they will all be the same size, then have the full image file in the gallery. AIOrocks101 (talk) 17:26, 4 July 2016 (MDT)
notcategory
, used in DPL tags/parser hooks, excludes all pages from its output that aren't in that category. Example:
- The DPL code behind it excludes Unaired episodes in order to retrieve the latest episode. Unlike
category
,notcategory
can only be used once. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 12:12, 8 July 2016 (MDT)
- Oh, by the way, Reddo, I've been trying to figure out a way to transclude the content here into a wiki page, but I can't figure it out. Can you? And thanks for installing RandomInCat. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:25, 8 July 2016 (MDT)
- Also, Template:Listen link3 is not working; I can't get the name of the specified episode into the Website address. Can you do it? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 12:08, 10 July 2016 (MDT)
- Random in Category is installed, that template should be working now, let me know if I did what you wanted, also I don't think you can included stuff from the API into a wiki page unless you do it with javascript to get the JSON and do dom manipulation, probably not worth it if all you want is your edit count Reddo (talk) 15:42, 11 July 2016 (MDT)
- It seems that Mabel is putting <code>episode character category</code> in new intro/wraps categories. Can you fix it? Thanks Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 14:37, 14 July 2016 (MDT)
- Reddo, I think you missed my reply above. AIOrocks101 (talk) 14:03, 17 July 2016 (MDT)
- Hey Reddo, I replied almost 3 weeks ago, and I'm still waiting for a response from you. And, Scientific Guy, I don't understand what you are saying in reference to notcategory. Thanks. AIOrocks101 (talk) 16:54, 22 July 2016 (MDT)
- Sorry, I've had a lot going with relatives visiting and work, my brain is a little fried right now. Only problem I have with PNG is the huge file size, I just tested it right now, and PNG files for the club art is literally up to 80MB, the wiki can't really handle that and neither can most users internet connections in a timely manor Reddo (talk) 17:05, 22 July 2016 (MDT)
- That makes sense. What do you think of having the small versions that go by the name and are in PNG format as the album image so they will all be the same size and clear? We could then have the full version in the gallery. AIOrocks101 (talk) 17:34, 22 July 2016 (MDT)
- I have no problem with having smaller ones that are PNG, someone was doing it for album images a while ago, just off the top of my head for the naming system
- full size: XXX art.jpg
- small size: XXX art-small.png
- Where XXX is the number, all the promos/samples are by number so I think we should keep going by number instead of name. I think we should also include a some link to the full size art from the episode page, not sure how that should work yet to look good and be intuitive. Reddo (talk) 17:45, 22 July 2016 (MDT)
- We could just have the full size image in the gallery on the episode page. AIOrocks101 (talk) 18:06, 22 July 2016 (MDT)
- Tilly: By the way, do you or OdysseyFan have any of the other unreleased episodes? If so, is there a way I can listen to them? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 16:00, 25 July 2016 (MDT)
- We could just have the full size image in the gallery on the episode page. AIOrocks101 (talk) 18:06, 22 July 2016 (MDT)
Pages?
How do you make another page? I can't seem to figure it out. Arista Maxwell (talk) 08:04, 31 July 2016 (MDT)
Before Reddo answers you, I will. There are two ways to do it: Type in whatever you want
and then click on the link that follows. Example: Red Rock Mysteries. You can also type into the search block the name of the page you want. It will then say “There is a page named (name) on this wiki!” or “Create the page (name) on this wiki!” in a link. This is also the way you make subpages for your user. Penny Wise-Bassett
Before I do something stupid, I'll run it by you to make sure it isn't stupid. I'm going to be in one of my early-morning input sessions on August 18th, and part of that will probably be changing Penny's name on her page and in her episodes. Is this a good idea? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 15:39, 8 August 2016 (MDT)
- yes, that is the plan, just follow what is done for katrina, using the character name thing in the character list so that if people just look at the page it says Penny wise, and only see penny Bassett on her character page. I'm not sure if it's Wise-Bassett or just Bassett, but we'll find out soon Reddo (talk) 19:45, 8 August 2016 (MDT)
Redirects and Searching
Scientific Guy had an interesting point in that by having common mission spellings redirect to the selected page, it clutters up the suggestion field of the search bar. For example, if you type "the ties that bind, part 1" you will see all of the redirects. Is there a way to hide redirects from the search bar? What little research I did I noticed that there was that feature here but removed in version 1.23 of MediaWiki. So I think the only other way is if there is a configuration setting for whatever search engine (if we use Sphinx) we use or we hide redirects (I.E. protecting them) and then patching the search engine to not show protected pages (here). Not sure how that would work or even feasible, but I good suggestion from Scientific Guy that I thought I would pitch up to you. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 18:35, 8 August 2016 (MDT)
- I like the idea of cleaning it up but I'm not sure the best way to do it, best way might be to just fix the pages that link to the redirect and then delete the redirect. Lockdown doesn't work with mediawiki 1.27 so we can't use Lockdown right now, fix is supposed to be coming soon though, also personally I like the search results showing some redirects, like for editing I usually just type the episode number into the search box and go, it's faster than typing in the name. If we want to keep that we'd have to hide only certain redirects from the search bar Reddo (talk) 19:51, 8 August 2016 (MDT)
- I agree the numbers should be shown and I would say maybe wait a bit to see if they do release a patch? Regardless, pages shouldn't be going to a redirect anyways, correct? Other than say like Connie, because that would take way too many edits to fix every link of Connie to Connie Kendall. Unless that should technically be done, but I think a bot could easily do that (replace Connie with Connie). Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 20:05, 8 August 2016 (MDT)
- P.S. Rather then a bot this looks promising. If we indeed wanted to replace mass redirects. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 20:18, 8 August 2016 (MDT)
- I tested it on Cal. IT WORKS! BWAHAHAHAHA! Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 10:32, 10 August 2016 (MDT)
- Sweet. So I know that Reddo is on vacation, but I would say we move ahead with making sure no episode/album titles link to the misspellings and then delete the redirects. (save number redirects though) Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 13:57, 10 August 2016 (MDT)
Video Actors
So, I am trying to fix the video actor pages. I was able to get the number of video appearances appear in the staff infobox, but I am having issues with the number of Video Characters Played. I know for Episodes Characters Played, the number is triggered by the Character category tracking for. So I tried making a video version of this character as seen on Category:Videos with Dylan Taylor voiced by Aeryk Egan, but for some reason Category:Video actor category tracking for Dylan Taylor and Category:Video character category tracking for Aeryk Egan say there is no media on the pages. This doesn't make sense since they are clearly being used on the Videos with Dylan Taylor voiced by Aeryk Egan category. Since the wiki things these are empty, is the reason I believe that Video Characters Played is also blank. The same is true for the fact that Video Characters don't appear in the Staff Episodes template. Any help would be Cppreciated! We almost have the videos functioning with the everything else. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 23:05, 21 August 2016 (MDT)
- Okay, you can kinda disregard the above message. The cache finally cleared and I was able to add Video Characters played to show in the infobox staff. I was also able to add the Video Characters tab in Staff Episodes. My issue now is that it doesn't list the characters on the Video Characters, it's simply blank. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 23:53, 21 August 2016 (MDT)
- Also, what do you think of creating a crew box for the videos. On IMDb there are a lot more crew then what we have listed. I was thinking of something along the lines of this. I think this box style is better since there is so many members of the crew. I think it would make the infobox too long. Thoughts? Can I move ahead with that idea? I also still need characters to be listed for the staff episodes template. Stop Wooton' Around (talk) 18:19, 1 September 2016 (MDT)
Template:Ep not working on target page
Hey Reddo, first off, awesome job with your work on the ratings system. Anyways, I discovered a problem with Template:Ep num: it doesn't work on its target page. Example: entering Fences
on Fences causes an error, and no number is displayed. Thus, since that template doesn't work,
doesn't work either. This error can be seen by going to the bottom of any episode page in the Novacom saga, like Grand Opening, Part 1. Do you have a solution? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 16:39, 10 September 2016 (MDT)
- No solution exists, and there's no way to fix it you can't transclude a page on itself, glad you like the updated rating system, still working on making it a little more efficient right now but it's almost done. This afternoon I wrote the install script for it so if other wiki's use it they won't have to manually alter the database Reddo (talk) 17:17, 10 September 2016 (MDT)
- Based upon that, I simply put |debug=false in Template:Ep num; Grand Opening, Part 1 works beautifully. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 19:44, 10 September 2016 (MDT)
- After a bit of experimenting with the Jill (b) page and Quotes for this character template, I learned that suppresserrors doesn't get rid of
Extension:DynamicPageList (DPL), version 3.0.8: Warning: No results.
but debug=false does. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 12:46, 11 September 2016 (MDT)

- sorry I haven't done anything on this yet, work's been super crazy, I'm in charge of a huge project with a lot of little details that all need to be figured out and done properly and they guys that are working for us aren't the brightest (70-40 = 15 according to them) it's been taking up all of my time. it might be mid-november before I can get to this Reddo (talk) 07:00, 26 October 2016 (MDT)

Odysseyfan: Sysop
I personally think that, without doubt, Odysseyfan has been our greatest user in the past six months. He has done a tremendous job renovating the products, he is the Facebook admin, he is always helpful, he's complete in what he does, he has a striking consistency, he is on the wiki the most, and he has spotted the spam users for me so I don't have to. For these reasons, mostly so he can block users and delete pages, I believe that Odysseyfan should become a sysop. Whenever you get around to checking up on us, could you consider this? Note that his username is Odysseyfan, with a lowercase f. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 18:10, 9 November 2016 (MST)

Bot
Can we run a mass rename? Want to Change all the ImginationStation and Imagination-Station Images to Imagination-station and all the Image references on pages in Galleries If I have to do it manually I'm tempted to just do them all to Imagination-station as there are less references. and fix the Book Image issue lemme know ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 08:38, 15 June 2017 (MDT)
- I suggest using Special:ReplaceText as it can rename pages too. What is the Book Image issue? Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 12:26, 15 June 2017 (MDT)
- That worked, VERY CAREFULLY! :-) Most of the book images are missing the book image template, so trying to add that to the IS series and then the other series and get all the categories to show all the images correctly. ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 13:52, 15 June 2017 (MDT)
- Next I would like to get the Extension:CategoryGallery unless there is an easy way to automatically gallery images from a category? ~ OdysseyFan (talk) 06:29, 16 June 2017 (MDT)
- You probably would need a bot for the other Image pages, unless you wanted to use complicated DPL to open up a bunch of new tabs and then cut-and-paste the template in. Reddo likely will not see this for a while, but when he does, I concur that Extension:CategoryGallery is necessary. Scientific Guy (talk / AIOC Episode Timeline) 19:46, 16 June 2017 (MDT)
figured out the rename thing still would like a Category Gallery. and I think SciGuy wanted to rename the namespace from Adventures in Odyssey Wiki to just AIOWiki check his to do page~ OdysseyFan (talk) 07:21, 31 July 2017 (MDT)

- Currently Reddo is inactive, so I'll try to answer your question as best I can. There are two ways to set up a wiki. You can set up a wiki for free at Wikia.com (for instance, ballpythons.wikia.com), but be warned, they host other wikis and run ads, so you or your community might find some inappropriate content there. The second option is create your own website using a .com or similar extension, such as ballpythonwiki.com. This costs money (usually in the form of yearly payments)- but is highly desirable if you want a Wikipedia or AIOWiki style wiki- Wikia-hosted wikis look much different. You then can set up the MediaWiki free open-source software to make your wiki usable- you'll need someone with knowledge of Java to set up certain things. Some tips:
- Make sure you have a few moderators from the start, as well as a set of established guidelines- there may be spammers and/or people uneducated in wiki usage that obscure, delete, or incorrectly portray information for your visiting public.
- Make sure your topic is big enough to justify its own wiki. Most important information about ball pythons can be found on their Wikipedia article, since they are only a small part of the snake conglomerate. Again, you can set it up however you like, but that's a fairly basic principle.
I hope I answered your questions correctly and informatively- anyone can feel free to correct me on any points. Cartoon Nostalgia 10:05, 4 November 2018 (MST)
