Shalman

I just want to clarify this bit: Whether or not Shalman was in any way real, Len clearly thought that he was, which would explain the "fantastical language" involved in "summoning" him. He certainly wouldn't be the first character to described fantastically, especially in a fantasy setting. (I don't know about any "boards used to summon demons", so I don't know what to say about that, but Whit hadn't seen it when he got that feeling of impending disaster.) - Caswin 01:52, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Confusion over meaning of this episode

It's rather puzzling what Focus on the Family's position actually is on fantasy or RPGs. On the one hand, this "Castles and Cauldrons" thing seems for all intents and purposes to be a characterization of Wizards of the Coast products, especially Dungeons and Dragons. But on the other hand, Focus seems to be strongly supportive of Inklings fantasy (Lewis and Tolkien) and of "imagination" with the "Imagination Station" stuff and so forth, and it isn't made clear where is the line, if any, between what they disapprove of and are speaking out against in making this episode, and what they approve of. So the end result is just confusion.

If I'd written this episode, I'd have had two different fantasy clubs in town, one being good and the other bad, and would have endeavored to show where the difference lies. But instead we just hear "fantasy is bad / RPGs are bad" in a very vague and general kind of way.

Ok! I have an idea, change the last sentence in the overview, what it says is biased. I will look at the page again to get more ideas, I hope I can help a lot with this project, it's probably the biggest thing I've seen on the wiki. I want to do everything I can to help! Better

I think the way the page is now is much better than the way it was before. As Scientific Guy put it, it doesn't seem to be "glorifying" the game at all anymore. It also seems to be way more accurate.
