I would like to comment that the Blackgaard family tree needs to have mumzi ( not sure how that is spelled) posted as their mother. RyanCummings 02:11, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure that was just another name for mother in general like mum, mom, mommy ect. Reddo 05:49, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
- I agree, we should at least put "Unknown" and "Unknown" above the Blackgaard brothers. - Sunnys <BIBLE|-- ~Talk~
Parent Names
In the Blackgaard books we learn their names, Father: Jannus Blaguer And Mother: Yvette Blackgaard / Blaguer / Barnett (maiden name) - Jay Smouse (talk | contributions) (talk) 07:32, 7 October 2019 (MDT)
- can you clarify their last name is not the same as their father. so did she re-marry and the twins got their step-fathers name? OdysseyFan (talk) 14:44, 11 October 2019 (MDT)
- also as this happened a lot (ellis island) is this specifically his Father this happened to or an ancestor that immigrated and the name was changed? OdysseyFan (talk) 19:50, 2 November 2020 (MST)
- She did not re-marry. The father Janus Blaguer was fighting in WWII, and positioned in the Netherlands away from his family (I don't recall the complete detail to detail story, but here is the general idea). After the war ended he was not able to be found, so Yvette took the twins to go to live with her family in England. Afraid that the stigma of her husband's German association would follow them, she gave the immigration official her maiden name, Barnett. Edwin didn't seem to care about, but Regis pitched a perfect fit about it. For some reason he didn't understand. He didn't want to be a "Barnett". His mother panicked and wrote her real last name, but the agent mispronounced it as "Blagaard". The family then changed the spelling a bit and that is how the name Blackgaard came to be.
Hope that helps! AioNews10808 Editor1 (talk) 05:18, 3 November 2020 (MST)
