I suppose that, in a sense, he kind of did die. He isn't in the new shows anymore. One could say he may have grown up, and since Odyssey is more aired toward kids, and that they express kids more than adults, he isn't featured anymore. Yes, but there are dozens and dozens of characters who have not come back and probably never will, and their pages are written in the present tense. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of them are in present tense, actually. Adventures in Odyssey never officially stated that Alex will never return, so I don't really see why it's necessary to have his page uniquely in past tense.
