Mr. Ray Gardner is the editor of the tabloid Society's Scandal. He was the boss of Jimmy Barclay as well as his landlord. At one point he sent Jimmy to investigate the Christian Men's Assembly using his father George Barclay as a connection. When it was obvious there was nothing that Jimmy could use for his tabloid he created an article that caused Mr. Gardner to fire and evict him. Later he tried to rehire Jimmy on the condition that he follow another lead on the Christian Men's Assembly, but Jimmy chose to turn him down and return to Pokenberry Falls with George.
