Jerry Whittaker
Jerry Whittaker is the deceased son of Whit, having died in the Vietnam war after volunteering to go into the U.S. army. His only appearances were in the episodes Memories of Jerry, told in flashback by his brother Jason Whittaker, Silent Night in a Christmas flashback, and in The Mortal Coil, Part 1 and The Mortal Coil, Part 2.
History
He was Whit's oldest son. He was valedictorian of his high school graduating class. He died in Vietnam in the days between November 7 and 12th, 1971.
Family

Jerry is the oldest child of John Avery and Jenny Whittaker. His siblings are Jason and Jana Whittaker-Dowd. His niece and nephew is Monty and Jenny Whittaker-Dowd. His former brother-in-law is Phil Dowd.
Legacy
A few of Jerry's possessions make an appearance in Odyssey and even spur controversy to a degree:
- At the end of the episode The Price of Freedom, Jerry's name appears on the Odyssey War Memorial.
- In the episode Silent Night, Jerry's violin is listed as sitting on the mantle in Whit's house. He later gives it to a little girl.
- In the episode The Forgotten Deed, Whit tries to donate Jerry's Bible to the new time capsule project but is given back to Whit.
