Horace McAlister is the founder of Odyssey and presumably the first mayor.

History

Horace McAlister founded Odyssey in the mid-1800s. He is from Richland, Virginia. Even though he received the deed to the land that would become Odyssey from being cheated by his twin brother Grover McAlister, he prospered by using his farming knowledge to irrigate the land from being swamp land to farmland.

Horace also named Odyssey. In #FP01: “Whit's Visitor”, Whit quotes "Doc" McAlister:

When it came around to Doc McAlister (who wasn't really a doctor by the way, he owned the drugstore in town, so the name kinda stuck) He said the name should have something to do with where the settlement was situated. "It's in a beautiful valley." He said. "A place everybody ought-a-see".

A similar quote is repeated in #636: “A Class Reenactment”, confirming that "Doc" McAlister is indeed Horace McAlister.
