History

Hallie is a CyberDyne Super Plus Deluxe 9000.58 computer, gifted to Joey Patrick to help him with school assignments. Joey communicates with the computer through a headband-type input device. As he spends more time using the computer, Hallie develops a capacity for emotion and develops human-like speech patterns. Over time, Hallie becomes possessive of Joey and isolates him from his friends and family. After Mrs. Patrick accidentally breaks the input device while trying to remove it from Joey's head, Hallie's control over Joey begins to dwindle and he permanently unplugs her.

Notes

• She originally had a robotic voice, but it became increasingly "human" as she spent more time with Joey.
• In an alternate ending, Hallie became human while Joey was turned into a computer.
