Personality

Douglas Helm’s personality is hard to determine. He wasn't adept enough at programming to get anything above a failing grade in Eugene's programming class. In fact he agreed to Eugene's suggestion to drop the class. However, he was clever enough to pull the wool over Penny's eyes to get her to look away while he was supposed to be entering grades. Eugene describes him as a "hacker in the making".

History

In his only appearance Douglas appears in Eugene Meltsner's office to turn in a drop class form. However, Penny convinces him not to drop the class and allows him to enter the grades for a test to gain his confidence back. While Penny thinks she made a difference in Douglas' life, Eugene seeks her out and tells her he in fact entered all grades for the class assignments, changed his password, and locked down the computer. Eugene then reveals that despite his failing grade he was wrecking havoc on the Campbell County College computer network and describes him as "A deviant genius, a hacker in the making". It is quite possible that in addition to dropping the class, Douglas' tampering may have gotten him disciplined by the college administration and possibly even criminally prosecuted.
