History
Clara lived at Jack Allen's orphanage. Her only company was "Mr. Chuckleford," her stuffed rabbit, until Whit came. She grew to like "Mr. Whit" as she called him when he visited and wanted him to adopt her. But Jack had not told Whit that Clara's adoption papers had already been signed by Peter & Peggy Portland. Clara didn't want to leave with the Portlands, but finally agreed. Whit got very upset at Jack and told him he never wanted to see him again, but later apologized and asked him to stay, and Jack accepted. See #365: “Clara” for more information.
Family
Her parents were killed in a car crash. She was then adopted by Peter and Peggy Portland.
