These are stories I've written about Jason Whitaker's undercover adventures around the world. I call them The Jason Chronicles. This one is the first book and it's based on the Blackgaard Saga.
Blackgaard's Return
Chapter 1: The Attack.
Dr. Regis Blackgaard has returned and vandalism has struck Odyssey. Eugene Meltsner had been searching through the past of Whit's End through the Imagination Station. He was talking with Reverend Andrew, who was telling him of the strange mineral in the tunnel beneath the church. However, he would soon be interrupted by yet another attack on Whit's End…
"Well the locals call it <garbled speech> One." I guess <more garbled speech>." Reverend Andrew said. "What? What's going on? A power loss? No! Not when I'm so close!" Eugene said as the Imagination Station powered down. Eugene ran downstairs and found Connie and Jason ducking under the front windowsill as bricks, rocks, glass, and other debris flew through it. "Eugene! Call the police!" Jason yelled over the deafening sound of breaking glass. "Hurry!" Connie yelled. Eugene ran into the kitchen without question. Suddenly, something small and black flew through the window. It landed a few feet away from Jason and Connie. Jason peered at it carefully, then shouted, "Connie, get down!" He picked up the mysterious object and threw it a few feet away from them. Suddenly, there was a loud explosion!
Connie awoke a few minutes later to the blaring noise of sirens and a sharp pain in her right arm. Part of the wall had collapsed on top of her and Jason. She slowly pulled herself out from the rubble and looked around. Eugene came in from the kitchen, asking if everyone was alright. "I'm fine Eugene. Where's Jason?" Connie asked. "Right here." Jason said as he got up. " That was a close call." He said. "Yeah, tell me about it." Said Connie. "Indeed it was." Eugene said. Then the police came in along with some paramedics. "Is everyone alright?" One of them asked. "I think we're all okay, Officer O'mally. Can't say the same for the building though . " Jason said with a slight smile. "Well, that may be, but you should all go to the hospital and get checked out, just to be sure. You too, Eugene." Officer O' mally said. "Affirmative, sir!" Eugene replied. " In the meantime we'll investigate around here and inform you of the situation." So Connie, Jason, and Eugene all went to Odyssey General Hospital to be checked out by Dr. Alven, a new doctor to the hospital who had just transferred from out of state. After checking them over he found that Connie had a mild fracture in her lower arm and Jason had a few mild fractures in his collar bone and right shoulder blade. Afterwards he checked out Eugene and gave his diagnosis. "Well, aside from my being unable to understand a word he says, which can be fixed by some therapy, he seems to be fine." The young doctor said. "But this is my normal manner of speech!" Eugene protested. " You're scheduled for an appointment with a specialist next week. Maybe he can help you. " At this Eugene was speechless while Jason and Connie looked like they would explode from suppressed laughter. Only when the doctor left were they unable to hold it in any longer. They both started laughing despite their efforts to stop themselves. "Well Eugene, it looks like you're going to be busy for a while." Connie said in between laughs.
"To borrow the colloquialism, ha ha, very funny." Eugene answered. Meanwhile, in another part of town Lucy Shultz is being questioned by a thug named Jellyfish in his new hideout in the woods. "You had better let me out of here." She said to him nervously. " And we will. Once you give us what we want." He answered her with an evil sneer. "I think you had better listen to her, Myron." A voice in the darkness said. Suddenly Rodney and Rusty were somehow knocked unconscious. "Who is that?!" Jellyfish demanded. "Nobody…it's just me." The voice answered as the man's figure came into view. "Richard!" Lucy exclaimed. "Maxwell!!" Jellyfish said. "Yes, Myron. It's me. Now back away from Lucy." Richard Maxwell said. Realizing that Richard could be a witness, Jellyfish got nervous and said "Y-you know I wouldn't hurt anybody, r-right?" "I'll believe it when I see it." Then Richard tased him and Jellyfish also lay on the ground unconscious. "You didn't hurt them did you?" Lucy asked. "No. They'll just wake up in a few minutes with a headache. Are you alright?" He asked. "Yeah, I'm okay. Thanks." She replied. "No problem. Let's get you home." Richard said. "Okay" She replied. Richard Maxwell walked with her until they neared her house. Then he left and she went inside.
