You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me. -C. S. Lewis
I was raised by my grandmother, and the one thing she taught me to love besides the Lord is stories. I remember first listening to AIO when I was 4 years old, but AIO and I literally grew up together. We were born 6 months apart! :) The first episode I have recollection of hearing was #32: “Family Vacation, Part 2”. I distinctly remember sitting in my grandmother's room on the edge of her bed listening to that episode emanating from the speakers in her enormous tape deck stereo. It was the beginning of a lifelong enjoyment of radio drama in general and AIO in particular.
AIO isn't the only source of stories I love, obviously. I'm a HUGE fan of C. S. Lewis and his writings. He and I feel very much the same about a good book. I'm so very glad that Focus on the Family opted to use Chronicles of Narnia for their Radio Theatre program.
If I had to pick one character in Odyssey that I identify with, it would probably be Eugene. We're both unabashedly intelligent and severely socially awkward. Like him, I also pride myself on the ridiculous amount of seemingly pointless trivia I have stored away in my brain.
After spending so many years being in love with Odyssey, I now have someone else to share it with: my husband and our son. He may be only 4 months old now, but some day I plan on walking into the world of Odyssey hand-in-hand with my son and introducing him to the characters (and, ultimately, the Savior) that I love so very much!
Let me know if there's anything else you want to know about me! I'm an open book! :)
