What do I type into the box in preferences to get this (User:JaySmouse/Signature) to be my signature?

I've been wondering the same thing.
Resolved: in my case it would be typed in as “{{SUBST:User:JaySmouse/Signature}}“
DO you type that as a substitute for typing four tildas? I just write User:Green Mamba/Signature in brackets at the end of my messages.
I type it (“{{SUBST:User:JaySmouse/Signature}}”) into the preferences custom signature box. Then I can type “~~~~” and get JaySmouse (talk | Adventures in Opinions) 07:55, 24 July 2020 (MDT).
