Topic on Adventures in Odyssey Wiki:Town Hall2

Does anyone think a page for people to be able to post theories should be made? I personally like theorizing and would love the opportunity to share with other people. Please offer feedback.

I would LOVE a page like that, and would use it regularly!! We could even put it as a part of the "Infobox Episode Information" so that people will get a link to the page when they are viewing an episode.

Not a wiki page, but a community page ? or something of the sort would be a good idea. I could even create one attached to my username if y'all would like that.

Yeah, a community page would be fine. Attached to your username would be fine as well, but i think there should be another way so that users, and visitors can access it easier.

I agree that visitors should be able to access it. A community page would be great! I will be sure to assist with its creation if need be.

Do you think we could create the page under my username. I have not made many contribs to the wiki and I would appreciate if I could make this my first "major" project. I would, however, love some assistance with organization and the setup of the page.

Hey Green Mamba, I just added the episode theory page to Infobox Episode Information. I want to point one thing out which is that if you go to an episode that was released in 2019, and press the link at the bottom left of the episode box (it says episode theories) it will tell you to create a new page for 2019 theories, don't do that. Simply Create the page but don't add any text other than a redirect to the User:Green Mamba/Adventures in Odyssey Theories page. I have already made the redirect for 2020 and 2021 episodes. Hope this project turns out great! Here is the episode Millstones that was released this month, look at the left corner at the bottom and you'll see a special AIO logo with an episode theories link next to it. Click on that and it'll take you right to the episode theories page.

I love it! So that is a good way to find the page. Now we just need a way to format the page similar to Town Hall 2. Do you think I should contact Scientific Guy about that? Also do we necessarily need to make available to all? I want it to be, but if protocol says otherwise it doesn't have to be.

Yeah, either Scientific Guy or Reddo. It would be nice, but if the code, or Scientific Guy and Reddo doesn't permit it, then we will have to settle on users only.

I'll page them and get back to you soon. Also, I wrote an "intro" or "opening" for the page. I also created the redirect page for the 2019 episodes.

Referring to when you said I had to make a redirect page for the Episode Theory links prior 2020. I went into the template code and did some editing and removal. I made it so that the link on every episode links to the Adventures in Odyssey Theory page directly. I could tell that you were copying information from another link. So, I removed some extraneous code that was adding the YEAR.htm to the end of the link. It should be simplified now.

Thanks! I took a lot of the coding from another code on that page. I noticed that something was wrong after the fact, but didn't devote time to it yet. Thanks for doing that for me!

No problem. I talked with Scientific Guy about the theory page. He says it would only be allowed to be edited by members of the wiki (which I understand). I would need to contact the top-ranking admins to receive the code for Town Hall 2 to use on the Theory Page.

I made it so that the Infobox links to the episode theory page, not the general aio theories page. If you want you can change it back.

Hmm, it cuts off after 3 characters in the sub-sub-page (ex. “User:Green Mamba/Adventures in Odyssey Theories/The” instead of “User:Green Mamba/Adventures in Odyssey Theories/The Rydell Revelations, Part 1”) because it’s too long.

I tested it and link to a theory page specific to the episode. If this is what you meant, I think it is great idea with some finetuning needed. Oh, and you all can refer to me as David if you want (a little bit easier than Green Mamba). And yes, I appreciate any help.

I think we can display Episode Theories but link to the episodes' specific theory pages.

I thinks its a great Idea, but what we really need is the code for town hall 2, then we can work more on the infobox episode information.

Once the chat is up i don't know if the infobox is calibrated to automatically search for chats with, for example, Millstones in the title of the chat, when you press the episode theories link on the Millstones page? I don't know if that's what Jay Smouse did or not, i will look at the code.

I don't think we can fix the website cutoff. What we can do is have the main page have manually created links that can take users to those episode theory pages.

So, for example (once someone has created a discussion for the episode) the link “User:Green Mamba/The Rydell Revelations, Part 1” would be on Green Mamba/Adventures in Odyssey Theories? We could always change “Adventures in Odyssey Theories” to something like “t” to allow for more space, but it wouldn’t make as much sense.

I also created a template page "Template:Theory Page". At the beginning of each individual theory page add "Click HERE to return to the main theory page.". This will add a link to the main theory page. Feel free to edit the template if necessary.

Though I doubt that I can get that info, I will still try if possible. if not, the setup will be as such: a main page with links to individual theory pages, individual theory pages where theories are posted, and talk pages for those pages where theories will be discussed.
