Where do we hear Doris Rathbone in this episode? Harlow (talk) 17:30, 14 August 2018 (MDT)
- Rachel Maxwell had pointed out a few weeks ago that she has one line in the episode: User talk:Crnel#For Better or For Worse, Part 1. Crnel (talk) 19:14, 14 August 2018 (MDT)
- I just listened to the line in question. Bart says: "With a 20% added fee of course." The response (thought to be Doris) is "I thought it was 15..." and Millie says, "Whatever, make it 30 for all I care." I can see why Rachel Maxwell thought this could be Doris, but the voice is the same as Millie's, and if indeed it was Doris, Bart surely would've told her to be quiet! Take a listen and see what you think, I think we should move Doris into "mentioned" for this episode. Harlow (talk) 19:36, 14 August 2018 (MDT)
- I see what you mean. For a few reasons, though, I do think it was intended to be Doris. First, the foley of footsteps approaching the group seems to indicate two people. Also the voice for the line is in the upper range, with a slight Rathbone accent -- the "thought" being more like "thoight" and the "thirteen" being nasally. Finally it doesn't seem likely that Millie would switch from contesting the fee to being apathetic about it in just a heartbeat. Just my two cents. Crnel (talk) 19:54, 14 August 2018 (MDT)
- Yeah, I can see that too. No question Doris is there during that conversation. From AIO's perspective though, I doubt they would insert the voice of Doris into an episode, with one line that gets no comment (Doris is usually used for comic relief), with the same actor who doesn't sound different and is in the same scene with herself. It would be bad producing. Katie Leigh has demonstrated a better "Doris" accent than that several times before, and if they really wanted Doris, I think they'd use Katie Leigh over Julia Kazarian simply due to placement. Also, Millie talks in that high pitch other times during the two part, and the nasally "thirty" isn't in question. That's Millie's response to Bart's price hike. The reason Millie is being so apathetic is the repeated theme that Millie has plenty of money and doesn't mind paying extra to have a traditional Shanks wedding. All that being said, I still stand behind that being Millie, but as with lots of these questions, we'd almost have to have a AIO team member solve some of these conundrums! #nerdproblems Harlow (talk) 20:18, 14 August 2018 (MDT)
- I see both sides of this but would also point out that Millie was played by the same actress as Doris (and Katrina) until Pam Hayden left. I think Kazarian just isn't particularly good at it, but to me there's a noticeable attempt at voice change between the "I thought it was fifteen" and "make it thirty for all I care" lines. But yeah I'd love to see that page of the script. Rachel Maxwell (talk) 11:23, 15 August 2018 (MDT)
- What if the writers originally wrote Doris into the script, asked Kazarian to play her, it didn’t work out, but they left the one line in there to give fans something to wonder about... lol Harlow (talk) 12:45, 15 August 2018 (MDT)
- Honestly you might not be far off - entirely possible that originally Doris had several lines but after recording they decided either that Kazarian didn't work or cut the lines for other reasons and just left that one line in. Millie definitely mentions that she hired both Rathbones. Rachel Maxwell (talk) 13:00, 15 August 2018 (MDT)
