Years ago, Nation Security Agent Jason Whittaker threw a man by the name of Sherman Wurt into prison for trying to hack into Fort Knox. Wurt, who goes by the nickname, The Whisperer, swore he would get revenge on the agent who locked him up. Now, the Whisperer has escaped from prison. And, thanks to Jason's father John Whittaker's connections, Jason already knows about the escape. But instead of waiting for the the Whisperer to make his move against Jason, Jason and his dad Whit have decided to draw the Whisperer out of hiding by using Jason as bait.

Whit's first step is to make an anonymous call to Rusty Gordon, critic of Odyssey, telling that Jason is a secret agent for the NSA. When Connie reads on Rusty's blog that Jason is a secret agent, she gets mad at Jason and Whit for never telling her about it. Now that Jason knows that the truth is out to the world, he makes a phone call to the NSA, telling them that his security is compromised.

Agent Tasha Forbes, Jason's former fiancé, comes to get Jason out of Odyssey to take him to a secure location. But before she can, the Whisperer acts on information given to him by a double agent, kidnapping Jason at Trickle Lake, Jason’s rendezvous point with Tasha. Everything was going as Jason and Whit had planned, except for one thing: the Whisperer also kidnaps a young boy by the name of Grady McKay, who was fishing with his dad Carson at the lake.

A few minutes later, Tasha and Carson see a helicopter flying south and conclude that Jason and Grady are in it with the Whisperer. Tasha calls in other agents to help; Carson panics, and Tasha asks Whit, who had come up to the scene of the crime, to explain the situation to the man.

Meanwhile, Jason, who is really still in Odyssey, discovers that the Whisperer has come for more than revenge; he wants a computer program from Jason’s father called Applesauce; and if Jason won’t cooperate, the Whisperer threatens to hurt Grady. Jason decides to take Wurt to the program.

Quotes

Connie Kendall: <quoting Rusty's blog> Odyssey has its own James Bond! That’s right, quaint little Odyssey has a field agent for the intelligence community living right there pretending to live a normal life. But then, he disappears and travels around the world on top secret missions. Yet to meet Jason Whittaker, you’d never guess it.

John Whittaker: I don’t know what to say!
Jason Whittaker: I do. I look like I have a double chin in that picture. Do I have a double chin?
Connie Kendall: Jason!

John Whittaker: Don’t be so overdramatic.
Connie Kendall: Overdramatic? I am the epitome of reserve!

The Whisperer: I want Applesauce!
Jason Whittaker: Mmmm. Good with pork chops.

Grady McKay: Dad, I may be wrong, but I think you're supposed to put the worm on the hook, not your finger.

The Whisperer: Stop calling me squirt!
Jason Whittaker: Anger management. You might want to consider that, too.

Chris: So much for Jason's quiet life in Odyssey! What do you think will happen next? Will Jason escape the evil clutches of The Whisperer, or is this the end of our intrepid hero?? …Sorry, I got caught up in the drama.
