Here Today, Gone Tomorrow?, Part 2
Proverbs 3:5-6
Jeremiah 29:11
“Here Today, Gone Tomorrow?, Part 2” is episode #524 of the Adventures in Odyssey audio series. It was written by Kathy Buchanan, and originally aired on July 5, 2003.
Summary
Mitch has to make a decision about the FBI, but his investigating skills are challenged in a case involving Whit and an old nemesis.
Plot
(continued from #523: “Here Today, Gone Tomorrow?, Part 1”)...
Mitch finds out that the IP address on Whit’s computer leaves him as a suspect. He tells Agent Bourland, who informs him that since he’s a suspect he’s off the case. Mitch refuses to give up.
He and Whit go to find the place where the TV was delivered, but only find that it’s an abandoned warehouse. They further investigate by talking to the man who owns the warehouse.
Meanwhile, Connie talks to her mom, June Kendall, about Mitch. She wonders if he’ll leave her for the FBI. June doesn’t have the answers, but tells Connie that if Mitch leaves it might be a good thing. Having that space between them would test the relationship to see what it’s made of.
Mr. Charles has been using Mitch’s IP address to track what he’s been investigating on his computer. He knows that Mitch is onto something and is worried that he’ll catch up to him again. He talks to Rudy Sutton, the prison guard, about their scheme. Rudy tells him that he used Whit’s fake ID to buy a car and some other things. Mr. Charles is infuriated that Rudy has left a trail that might eventually lead to them. They discuss using their emergency plan, where Mr. Charles will escape from the prison.
Mitch and Whit get a list of the security guards that have been watching over the warehouse. They are about to talk to them when Mitch remembers that the only time someone would have a chance to get on his computer was when he took it to be repaired. He goes to the repair shop, but the man tells him that his system is down and it might be a while before he can find out who worked on his computer. Mitch goes to see if Whit is free to talk to the security guards now. He talks to Whit about the FBI and about Connie. He tells Whit that he’d love to be an investigator with the FBI, but that Connie is the most important part of the decision. Whit suggests that Mitch spend time with Connie that afternoon.
Connie comes by to see Mitch and he’s still working on his computer. He’s distracted by his work, but when Connie says she’s scared, he gives her his full attention. She asks if he’s leaving and he says he just wants to be with her. Then, Mitch asks Connie to marry him. He pulls out the ring. Connie is flabbergasted and before she can get her answer out, there is an instant message on the computer from none other than...AREM!
