Discussion Questions
- God invented nations and what we call “the state” or the government. What is the purpose of the government? (See Romans 13:1-4.)
- In order to punish evil, a government must have laws. Where should people look for guidance when creating laws?
- Did America’s Founding Fathers use the Bible to establish laws?
- What does it mean to have liberty?
- Would we experience more liberty if we didn’t have to obey any laws?
- Ryan and Nelson were in the government of Kidsboro, but they found themselves in difficult situations—even doing the wrong things for what they hoped were good reasons. Is it ever right to do wrong, even if you mean well?
- What happens when a government behaves that way?
- What are the consequences when a government drifts away from the principles found in the Bible?
- Do you see that happening with your government?
- How?
- Should the government decide what schools teach?
- Should the government take care of the poor, or is that someone else’s responsibility?
- Is it the government’s job to decide if parents are being good parents?
- What do you think happens when a government becomes all-powerful?

Reviews
Quotes
Ryan Cummings: This was our chance to see our role models in action! Instead it was about as exciting as sharpening pencils.
Alice Funderburk: You got to sharpen pencils?
Ryan Cummings: At one point, there was a guy who nearly fell asleep, while he was talking.
Nelson Swanson: And I can invent things and do scientific experiments on live subjects?
John Whittaker: Yes. Well, no not the experiment part.
Nelson Swanson: Aw, rats.
John Whittaker: No, no experiments on rats either.
Alice Funderburk: How fast can this squad car go? Ever gone over 200?
Captain Richard Quinn: Oh no. There's never much need to drive fast around Odyssey.
Alice Funderburk: So do I get a piece?
Captain Richard Quinn: A what?
Alice Funderburk: A fire arm, a gun. You gonna give me a gun?
Jill Segler: I'm a reporter with the Odyssey Times.
Fred Holstein: Oh yeah, I remember our telephone call, but I remember hearing you a little taller.
Pete: Now, what about taxes?
Alice Funderburk: Can't we just avoid taxes?
Fred Holstein: In fact, I would like to teach the world to sing in perfect harfenspiel!
