The Underground Railroad, Part 3 B-TV: Envy A Touch of Healing, Part 1

[edit] Summary

A B-TV broadcast about envy.

[edit] Plot

“B-TV” is back! Yes, it’s another episode of that fast-paced, wacky show. The topic this time: envy. This episode includes an Oprah-like talk show. The show features a man named Cain who murdered his brother, Abel, and a king named David who committed adultery and murder, all because of envy. “B-TV” also shows a crime drama called “N.V.P.D. Squad.” On this drama, a detective named Elijah Prophet and his partner, Detective Lippowicz, solve the murder of a vineyard owner named Naboth, who was killed because King Ahab and Queen Jezebel envied him! The point of this episode of “B-TV”, Don’t let envy get you!

[edit] Discussion Questions

  1. Why is envy a bad thing?
  2. What does Jesus say about envy?
  3. Have you ever envied someone?
  4. What did you do about it?
  5. Bernard gave us a great way to conquer envy. Can you think of any other methods?

[edit] Notes

[edit] Quotes

Eve: This time it really is my fault. When I ate the forbidden fruit the serpent told me I'd be like God. I had no idea something like this would happen.
Adam: No, no it's both our faults. We brought sin into the world. Envy is one of the worst.

Bernard Walton: You see envy can twist your heart so much, that in order to get at someone else, you'll even hurt yourself.
