Plot

This plot section is too short and should be expanded. »

It's Thanksgiving. Connie loses her phone at Whit's End. Whit arrives and there is a bad storm. Then Eugene comes and Connie's cell phone is in his pocket, their phones were mixed up. Then Wooton arrives. A bit later Jay and his Uncle Wally arrive after their car got stuck in a ditch. The only food they have is ice cream and no TV. The power goes off. Wooton wants to play a game that is really pitiful. Whit gives the idea of making a story. Wooton plays a harmonica and Eugene strings his instrument. They start the story with a song about a happy town and an evil man named Scrunch.

Discussion Questions

  1. Have you ever got stuck and ever needed help?
  2. Who can you go to for help?
  3. How can you entertain your friends with no electric?

Quotes

Connie Kendall: Hot chocolate?! How can anyone think of hot chocolate at a time like this?!

John Whittaker: I suppose things could be worse.
Jay Smouse: Oh, yeah? Like how? <static electricity sounds>
Wooton Bassett: Uh, oh! What was that?
John Whittaker: Uh, well, the power could go off.
Jay Smouse: Yep, that would be worse alright.
John Whittaker: Don't worry, the, uh, generator should kick in any minute.
Eugene Meltsner: Uh, you mean the generator I've been trying to fix?

Harlow Doyle: Merry Christmas!
Connie Kendall: Uh, Harlow, I hate to tell you this, but, it's not Christmas.
Harlow Doyle: Well then, Happy New Year!
Connie Kendall: No, it's not New Year's either!
Harlow Doyle: Um...joyous Arbor Day?

John Whittaker: Well, we should do something fun instead of feeling sorry for ourselves.
Jay Smouse: I dunno, I kinda like feeling sorry for myself.

Scrunch: Turkeys get married?!.

Burger Blitzer Blitzer Burger: Wait, so you're saying Thanksgiving is OK after all?I knew it! I totally knew it! I could've been watching football and eating pies and playing games,it could've been so great! I've been robbed,I want restitution!
